Gartner, Inc. has named Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: GUID) a leader in its first Magic Quadrant for E-Discovery Software.(1)

E-Discovery, also known as electronic discovery, refers to the collection, preservation, processing, analysis and review of electronic documents in civil litigation or in response to government regulatory inquiries. The rise in electronically stored information has led to significant increases in e-discovery costs and raised legal risks for organizations. As a result, many organizations are reducing costs and risk by taking control of their e-discovery process.

"We believe Guidance Software's inclusion in the Leaders Quadrant for e-discovery recognizes our leadership, vision, continued innovation and the success of our EnCase® software," said Victor Limongelli, president and chief executive officer, Guidance Software. "EnCase delivers everything organizations want to accomplish in-house for e-discovery, from issuing legal hold notices and interviewing custodians online, to collecting and preserving potentially relevant data, to early case assessment, analysis, and first-pass review, all in a single, unified solution. With EnCase, risk and costs are lower because organizations don't have to spend time or money trying to integrate incompatible point solutions for each step of the e-discovery process, or transfer data between, and train users on, disparate systems."
