(Alliance News) - Digital Value Spa announced Thursday that it has obtained, through its subsidiary Italware, the final award of a tender related to the EUR29.1 million project for the technological upgrade of the mainframe environment infrastructure of a well-known public entity.

The project, for the evolution of technological processes to support citizens and businesses, includes a 36-month contract aimed at the implementation of a new computing platform for the client's National Electronic Center and Disaster Recovery Center through IBM z16 systems, upgrade of DS8000 storage systems, maintenance services and all equipment setup, cabling and data migration services. "The result will be a highly integrated infrastructure that will raise the level of service continuity, data protection and cyber security of the very delicate archives stored in it," the company explained in a note.

Among the innovative content included in the contract, "is the option to enable evolved security features, which are the result of IBM's ongoing investment in the z16 platform and which, through close collaboration with the IBM labs that develop the DS8000 systems, will benefit from an integration not achievable with other Storage systems," Digital Value continues.

Massimo Rossi, president and CEO of Digital Value, commented, "We are particularly pleased with this result, which reaffirms the value of a historic and solid partnership between Digital Value and IBM. Our specialist skills, combined with the vendor's technology proposition, enabled an unprecedented award, which sees the first enterprise-grade mainframe project for the public sector conveyed by a systems integrator."

Digital Value, on Wednesday, closed at a par at EUR60.50 per share.
