Interactive Intelligence Inc. (Nasdaq:ININ), a global developer of business communications software, has elected Eli Lilly and Company CIO, Michael C. Heim, to its board of directors.

Elected last Friday at the Interactive Intelligence board of directors meeting, Heim brings with him more than 25 years of technology and management experience.

?With nearly a decade of experience as a C-level executive for a Fortune 500 company, Mike represents the views of the larger customers we're increasingly targeting,? said Interactive Intelligence founder and CEO, Dr. Donald E. Brown. ?As someone who can help us better serve this key market segment, Mike is an important addition to our board.?

?Over the years I've watched Interactive Intelligence develop a commanding presence in the market for converged communications,? Heim said. ?With the maturation of technologies such as voice over IP, I'm especially excited to step in now and give guidance on how the company can best position its innovative solutions to uniquely address the challenges faced by the largest enterprises.?

Heim has been Lilly's CIO and vice president of information technology since January 2004. Prior to that, Heim was Lilly's chief technology officer with accountability for enterprise architecture and data strategy, the global business integration project, and global financial and human resources information technology solutions.

Heim joined Lilly in 1979 as an analyst in the corporate information systems group, and proceeded to hold assignments in financial, engineering, and information technology, including an international assignment in London, England, as the information officer for European and intercontinental operations.

Heim serves on many executive councils, including the Lotus Advisory Board, the Microsoft Pharmaceutical Advisory Council, the SAP Life Sciences Executive Council, and the Dean's Advisory Council-Indiana University School of Informatics.

Heim is a native of Ohio, and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Marian College and a master's degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University.
