International Road Dynamics : IRD Solutions Featured in Unveiling of New North Carolina Weigh Station

Saskatoon, SK December 21, 2016 - International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD) was featured in the unveiling of a new weigh station situated on I-85 North in Gaston County, North Carolina. The ribbon cutting ceremony comes less than a month after the November 15th, 2016 opening of the facility.

'The way that trucks approach and leave this facility is far superior to what we've had before, and is superior to where we have it in other places,' said Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson. 'The effectiveness of the inspections is enhanced by the facilities that we've built.'

The station features a 2,100-foot deceleration lane - nearly three times longer than the previous weigh station near Charlotte - with much less incline for trucks to safely accelerate and merge back onto I-85. These features improve safety for both truckers and motorists. The station is also the first in the state to have an indoor inspection building, allowing vehicle inspections to be performed in all-weather conditions. Weigh-in-motion technology provided by IRD will allow certain tractor-trailers to be weighed without stopping.
