Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. named Ken Akamatsu, a Taiwanese unit leader, as chairman of the holding company for the major Japanese department store group. Akamatsu, 64, deputy chairman at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store Co. of Taipei, will succeed Chairman and Representative Director Kunio Ishizuka, 67, who will step aside to become special adviser. The appointments are set to take effect on June 21 after a shareholder's meeting. Hiroshi Onishi, 61, the previous president of the holding firm, resigned in late March, after profits declined and he faced a backlash within the company following structural reform and business diversification initiatives.
