(Alliance News) - Iveco Group NV announced Wednesday that Heuliez, the company's city bus brand, has been selected by Régie des Transports Métropolitains to supply 200 electric buses, in a contract worth EUR125 million.

This order marks a major step forward in the large-scale electrification of Marseille's public transport network, the company explained in a note. More than a third of RTM's fleet will become 100 percent electric by 2027, contributing substantially to the city's energy transition goals.

Domenico Nucera, president Bus Business Unit of Iveco Group, commented, "We are really proud that Marseille has chosen us as a partner in its ambitious electrification project and excited to support the city in its transition to a more sustainable future. This substantial contract testifies to the effectiveness of our electric mobility solutions in meeting the decarbonization needs of public transport operators across Europe."

Iveco trades in the red by 0.2 percent at EUR10.84 per share.
