Kyushu Electric Power Co. announced that it expects to log a group recurring profit of JPY 55 billion in April-September 2015, due to fall in prices of fuel for thermal power generation. The expected improvement from the year-earlier recurring loss of JPY 31.9 billion was also attributed to the restart last month of the No.

1 reactor at its Sendai nuclear plant in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan. Falling fuel prices will boost its recurring profit by JPY 42 billion and the reactor restart, by JPY 11 billion. Kyushu Electric also projects its net profit at JPY 45 billion.

The company, however, lowered its sales projection to JPY 930 billion, almost unchanged from a year before, as fuel price declines will lead to cuts in electricity rates.
