VIENNA (dpa-AFX) - After conflict-laden negotiations with the trade union, Lufthansa Austrian Airlines has reached an agreement on a wage increase for its on-board staff. This was announced by both sides on Thursday evening. According to the agreement, salaries for cockpit and cabin crews will increase by an average of 19.4 percent in three stages by the end of 2026. No details were provided on the individual stages. Depending on the company's results, up to a further 2 percentage points may be added. The salaries of co-pilots will be increased by an additional 11% on average.

Since the beginning of March, the union had caused hundreds of flight cancellations with strikes and works meetings, which according to the management caused millions in losses. "This negotiation solution means a significant increase in salaries above the inflation rate for AUA cabin crew," said aviation unionist Daniel Liebhart. The agreement must be formally submitted to the union members for a vote in the next few days./al/DP/zb
