Sports Desk, Mar 18 (EFE).- Amad Diallo struck late into extra time as Manchester United beat Liverpool 4-3 in one of the best all-time FA Cup classics to book their place in the semifinal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

With the clock ticking for a penalty shootout, Alejandro Garnacho picked up the ball in the midfield and charged forward to find Amad on the edge of the box in 121 minutes, and the Ivorian calmly slotted the ball in to leave United fans going wild.

Amad received a second yellow card for his celebrations, but it mattered little as the final whistle soon confirmed United's place in the semis and ended Liverpool's chance of winning a quadruple in coach Jurgen Klopp's final season.

United, who began the match as underdogs, took an early lead through Scott McTominay with just 10 minutes played, prompting a strong response from Liverpool, who unleashed a flurry of attacks.

Alexis MacAllister and Mohamed Salah scored from those attacks to put Liverpool ahead at halftime.

Substitute Antony equalized for United late into the second half to take the game into extra time.

Harvey Elliott brought Liverpool into the lead again with his goal in 105 minutes, but the game still had enough drama left as Marcus Rashford exploited a gap in the crowd of defense to put the score level again.

"There are games where I was involved like this previously, yes. But, of course, when it's Manchester United against Liverpool, one of the world's best football matches, this is happening, I think it's historical," said Erik ten Hag.

Klopp regretted the man-marking of his side.

"We had to organize ourselves a little bit better, we struggled with the man-marking, didn't play enough, all these kinds of things," he said.

The win helped United set up a last-four meeting with Coventry City at Wembley, while holders Manchester City were drawn against Chelsea.

Coventry eliminated Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarterfinals, while City beat Newcastle United 2-0.

Chelsea defeated Leicester City to qualify for the last four of the tournament.

The two semifinals will be played, respectively, on Apr. 20 and 21, at Wembley Stadium. EFE
