US steelmaker Nucor announced on Tuesday that it will be collaborating with technology giants Google and Microsoft to develop new advanced systems for clean electricity.

The three partners say they want to develop new models in areas such as advanced nuclear projects, next-generation geothermal power plants, green hydrogen and long-term energy storage (LDES).

Nucor, Google and Microsoft emphasize that the emergence of new technologies is a necessary condition for the decarbonization of power grids in the face of growing demand for green energies.

Initially, their approach will be to send out requests for information in various regions of the USA, with the aim of getting closer to potential suppliers, investors and customers.

The actual launch of the first projects is expected early in the next decade.
