MONTREAL, March 25, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - In order to ensure the continuity of essential services in hospitals and to support hospital staff who are doing extraordinary work during the COVID-19 pandemic, New Look is establishing a priority service to replace glasses in the event of breakage, offered exclusively to hospital workers across Canada until May 1, 2020. All employees and medical staff of Canadian hospitals who wish to take advantage of this priority service are invited to call 1-800-463-LOOK or email guardianangels@newlook.ca as soon as possible to arrange a quick consultation with an eye care professional.

If a hospital worker is not covered by insurance, New Look will cover the replacement cost. Obviously, as the company wishes to limit trips to its branches for emergency consultations, we will conduct them by telephone to the extent possible.

"We wish to ensure that hospital employees and medical staff can continue their work even when they break their glasses. The efforts of these individuals are crucial and so is their vision. We will therefore make the necessary arrangements to offer this priority glasses replacement service within one hour of the request, if possible. If our New Look banner is not present in a specific region, we will look at the possibility of collaborating with our other Canadian banners such as Iris, Vogue and Greiche & Scaff to meet the needs", indicated Mr. Antoine Amiel, President of the New Look Vision Group.

This new measure is in line with the essential services that New Look implemented last week. While respecting government guidelines for essential health services, the company is continuing to offer essential services through several of its branches in order to respond to emergencies.

Employee measures
New Look is grateful to have such a large team comprising the best, most committed professionals in the industry. Without them, the business would not be what it is. During this difficult period, when most stores are closed temporarily and employees find themselves temporarily out of work, New Look has undertaken to supplement government employment insurance with an additional allowance to ensure a level of income approaching each employee's normal wage.

Free delivery and renewal of contact lenses
To contribute to the collective effort and avoid non-essential visits, New Look is offering free home delivery for all purchases. This applies both to purchases of eyeglasses in stores and to purchases of non‑prescription glasses on our website. Customers who renew their supply of contact lenses online, provided they have a valid prescription, will also benefit from free delivery. All questions regarding orders can be addressed to the company by email at infoweb@newlook.ca.

A safe environment to accommodate urgent cases
New Look has implemented the strictest precautionary measures to ensure a safe environment in those branches that are open by appointment only:

  • New Look only admits customers with a specific appointment related to an emergency. When it is possible to assist the customer without appearing in person—for example, for a renewal of contact lenses—this is done remotely;
  • Before arriving at the branch, customers are asked important questions in order to assess the risks to which they have recently been exposed with regard to COVID-19;
  • All devices and equipment are disinfected before and after each use;
  • Thorough cleaning of stores that have been visited or are open is done systematically;
  • Eyeglass frames are disinfected before and after each use;
  • Equipment necessary for the comfort of the client, such as handkerchiefs and antiseptic wipes, is available during their appointment;
  • Employees and optometrists are made aware of the risks and recommendations associated with COVID-19 and adapt their activities to limit their risks, both at work and at home.
