Nordea's chairman of the board Hans Dalborg has informed the nomination committee that he will not be up for re-election at the Annual General Meeting in 2011. The nomination committee will propose at the Annual General Meeting that deputy chairman Björn Wahlroos be elected as new chairman.

- I am honoured by the nomination, but will await the decision of the general meeting before commenting further on the post, says Björn Wahlroos.

Björn Wahlroos is chairman of Sampo plc, UPM-Kymmene Oyj and the Swedish School of Economics in Helsinki. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Finnish Business and Policy Forum EVA/ETLA and the Mannerheim Foundation among others.

- I am pleased that Björn Wahlroos has accepted the nomination. His experience as deputy chairman in Nordea and strong professional competence will both secure continuity and be valuable for Nordea's development, says Torbjörn Magnusson, chairman of the nomination committee.

The nomination committee's other proposals will be presented later.
