Sasja Beslik, head of responsible investments & governance at Nordea, has been awarded the title of Young Global Leader 2011 by the World Economic Forum.

The title implies that for five years Sasja Beslik will be an ambassador of a global network aiming to influence international companies to increase their social responsibility. Together with other network members he will be invited to give lectures in various forums throughout the world.

- I am pleasantly surprised and honoured to get this recognition for my work. Hopefully, we at Nordea can inspire other companies to take more social responsibility too, says Sasja Beslik.

During the past couple of years Nordea has attached great importance to developing its work on responsible investments.

- Today Nordea is in the forefront of responsible investments in the Nordic region. We combine financial, environmental and social aspects to deliver socially responsible returns and constantly seek to influence the corporate behaviour of the companies we invest in. We mainly focus on developing commercial funds based on environmental and social perspectives rather than developing purely ethical funds, says Sasja Beslik.

Nordea will continue to develop its work on responsible investments and the aim is to be better at reaching the public, young people in particular.

- Young people become increasingly involved in the decisive role that the financial sector plays in realising long-term sustainable economic developments. The future is seldom just a fluffy time-horizon to young people. It is rather an active choice, says Sasja Beslik.

World Economic Forum: (http://www.weforum.org/:

is an independent international organisation committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

Each year between 100 and 200 young leaders under 40 are honoured with the title of Young Global Leader. These leaders must have distinguished themselves as exceptional in their field and demonstrated their commitment to serving society at large. Today the Forum of Young Global Leaders comprises 750 young leaders from various organisations, companies and sectors all over the world.
