The Newsweek 2011 Green Rankings comprehensively assess the environmental performance of the largest publicly traded companies in America and around the world. The Green Rankings are the result of a rigorous, peer-reviewed research process, including both quantitative and qualitative data from some of the world's leading environmental research organizations. Companies are ranked by their overall Green Score. Pall received an overall Green Score of 63.1. The highest ranked company on the U.S. list scored an 82.5.

"The inclusion of Pall in Newsweek's Green Rankings validates our commitment to protecting the environment and doing the right thing," said Larry Kingsley, Pall CEO and President. "Pall is dedicated to helping customers minimize their carbon footprints, maximize recycling and waste reduction efforts, and ensure the most efficient utilization of natural resources and raw materials. In fact, many of our customers are represented in this year's Green Rankings."

Often called "the original clean technology company" because its products provide clear environmental benefits, Pall's approach to environmental stewardship is proactive and anchored in a culture of continuous improvement. This is demonstrated through near- and long-term goals to improve Pall's environmental profile. The company exceeded its goals of 10-percent reductions in water and energy utilities intensity, total waste output and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for 2010 and has set even more ambitious goals for 2013. This includes reducing utilities usage and waste by 20 percent, respectively, and greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 18 percent.

Pall was a partner in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's recently ended Climate Leaders program, an industry-government partnership committed to developing climate change strategies. Pall also participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global initiative to inventory GHG emissions and evaluate the risk of climate change to business operations. Pall's annual GHG inventory provides important baseline information that is used to make informed and effective policy decisions to reduce carbon footprint. Pall also has been included in the Cleantech Index since 2006 and has been a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index since 2001.

The Newsweek Green Rankings project is the first effort by a major media organization to rank companies based on their actual environmental footprint, management of that footprint, and sustainability communications. The rankings provide a reliable, cross-industry framework for comparing the environmental commitment and performance of major companies. Newsweek teamed up with two leading environmental research organizations, Trucost and Sustainalytics to conduct this study, and the methodology was developed in collaboration with an advisory panel of corporate sustainability experts.
