In February 2024, Panasonic Automotive Systems started supplying electricity to its Yokohama Building through its Corporate PPA electricity for domestic operational bases initiative. The strategy includes building solar power plants at 22 locations in 2023 and 50 locations in 2024, including at Panasonic Group facilities at off-site locations. The total electricity capacity will be approximately 28 MW of renewable energy, available for stable purchase at a fixed price for 20 years. This will allow for a coverage of 10% of the total power consumption of the Yokohama Building from March 2024 onward.

This initiative is a crucial step toward achieving Panasonic Automotive Systems' environmental KPI (2) of 50% non-external dependency on renewable energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Now that supply to the Yokohama Building has started, the focus will be on extending supply to other domestic operational bases of Panasonic Automotive Systems, including sites in Shirakawa, Matsumoto, Kusatsu, and Tsuruga.
