Peel Hotels plc announced unaudited group earnings results for the 28 weeks ended August 17, 2014. For the period, the company reported revenue of £8,559,808 compared to £8,228,186 a year ago. Operating profit was £791,498 compared to £536,982 a year ago. Profit before tax was £555,419 compared to £202,136 a year ago. Profit and total comprehensive income for the period attributable to owners was £416,564 or 3.0 pence per basic and diluted share compared to profit and total comprehensive income for the period attributable to owners of £151,602 or 1.1 pence per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was £1,187,905 compared to £1,131,778 a year ago. Acquisition of property, plant and equipment was £284,021 compared to £276,226 a year ago. EBITDA was up 6.4% to £1,331,527 compared to £1,095,519 a year ago. On August 17, 2014, net debt stood at £11,330,053 representing loans totaling £11,203,872 and an overdraft of £271,607 less £145,426 cash at bank. The company spent £284,021 in the period against £276,226 a year ago.  The majority has been spent on the complete refurbishment of all the bedroom corridors at the Crown and Mitre in Carlisle. Six bedrooms have been renovated at the Bull in Peterborough now completing the refurbishment of the bedroom stock at the Hotel.

The company continues to improve the fabric of its product and plan to spend over £500,000 in the current financial year on capital expenditures in addition to a significant sum expensed to the income statement.
