PKO BP could reportedly tap Dariusz Szwed, current management board member at state development bank BGK, as its new CEO after acting CEO Pawel Gruza tendered his resignation. Szwed is a banking sector veteran. He's been at BGK since 2021.

Earlier, from 2019, Szwed was deputy CEO at Alior Bank and prior to that, he worked at lender Santander BP since 1995. The change at bank's helm reportedly comes as ruling party PiS leader was displeased that PKO BP management failed to realize government's recommendations, for instance it offered too low interest on deposits, an unnamed ruling camp insider told the service. More personnel change at the bank could follow, including changing most of the manegement board.

On April 6, 2023, Gruza submitted his resignation effective April 12, 2023. Gruza was tapped as deputy CEO and simultaneously as acting CEO when prior CEO Iwona Duda resigned in early August 2022.
