Plant Advanced Technologies (PAT) entered into a partnership agreement today with BASF, the global leader in the chemical industry, for the development of new biomolecules for cosmetics and agriculture

This partnership was created as part of the BioProLor consortium ("BIOactives PROduced in LORraine"). It aims to identify, develop and produce new herbal active principles for cosmetics and biopesticides.

Using its unique technologies, PAT will be in charge of identifying and producing natural active principles able to exceed effectiveness and quality standards for traditional pesticides and cosmetic products. These natural active principles will be tested and validated by BASF before being marketed internationally.

To this end, BASF, which has already been involved in BioProLor since 2010 via its subsidiary BASF Beauty Care Solutions, is now including two other entities, i.e., BASF France and BASF Agricultural Products, specialized in biopesticide development.

"We are at the early stage of our partnership but results are already very promising: the identification rate of active ingredients of interest for crop protection from PAT research has never been reached before. This screening phase makes us very optimistic for the future of our collaboration," stated Vincent Gros, Senior Vice President Europe of BASF's Crop Protection division.

This partnership with BASF is the culmination of the know-how and unique processes developed by PAT's R&D teams for over 10 years. This collaboration with a worldwide leader in the chemical industry should allow PAT to accelerate its development plan and reinforce its high added-value biomolecule pipeline.
