He is a North Carolina native, growing up in Reidsville, N.C. He received his MBA from Wake Forest University and also earned a BS in Economics from Southern Methodist University and a BS in Accounting from UNC-Greensboro.

The award was presented on Thursday, August 5th, at a ceremony at the Hilton Charlotte Center City hotel and featured in the August 6, 2010, edition of the Charlotte Business Journal. The Charlotte Business Journal's award recognizes financial professionals in the 16-county Charlotte region for outstanding performance at their organizations. The recipients were recognized after their nominations were evaluated by Financial Executives International.
