Polar Capital has named Alexander Macdonald (pictured) as group head of sustainability as part of the London-based group’s push to improve ESG activity in its investment portfolios. Macdonald, known as ‘Zandy’, moves from his role within the client services team to lead on the sustainability efforts, which will include working at a fund level as well as improving responsible investment and stewardship capabilities. Primarily, he will lead and co-ordinate Polar Capital’s sustainability initiatives at a corporate level and act as a focal point for ESG activity in investment portfolios. In his new role, Macdonald will also chair a newly formed committee which will oversee key regulatory and legal initiatives in sustainability. He will also be responsible for coordinating the sustainable activities across the business.
