On Monday, May 22, PORR signed a contract with the Lower Silesian Center for Oncology, Pulmonology and Hematology (LSOPHC) for the construction of a new oncology hospital in Wroclaw.

The project with an investment volume of PLN 1,055 billion or around EUR 234 million is the largest project in the public health sector in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

As the general contractor for the new oncological hospital, we will use the extensive and long-standing experience that we have gained over 30 years of activity on the Polish market,' explains Karl-Heinz Strauss, CEO of PORR AG. The construction of the hospital is expected to be completed within 51 months. The first patients will be admitted to the new premises in 2028. The investment is co-financed by the local government of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the state budget and the LSOPHC's own funds.

The new hospital will have a floor space of more than 100,000 m-2; four floors above ground and one underground, 26 wards and 30 outpatient units. The hospital's clinic will have 73 practices, which will significantly increase the scope of outpatient treatments.

Wide range of services

The new hospital will have a total of 671 beds in double rooms. The operating wing will have more than 14 rooms in which up to 10,000 operations can be carried out per year. A spacious car park with 1,026 spaces completes the project.

A functional and usage plan was drawn up that contains the medical, architectural and functional concept of the facility. In order to coordinate the construction project with its future function as a hospital in the best possible way, the representatives of the individual hospital departments were involved in the creation of the architectural concept. The new oncology hospital will bring together three medical service centers: oncology, hematology and pulmonary diseases. These areas operated as separate entities until recently.
