No. 156/2022
Date 15 December 2022

Jakarta (12/15), PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk ensures the readiness of strategies and services for toll road operations in all segments of Jasa Marga in an effort to anticipate a spike in traffic volume ahead of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 (Nataru 2022/2023). This is done in an effort to prepare for the upcoming holidays. The functioning of the group is extremely good.

Atika Dara Prahita, the Head of Jasa Marga's Operation and Maintenance Management Group, explained that Jasa Marga predicts the number of vehicles leaving the Jabotabek area on H-7 Christmas 2022 to D+3 New Year 2023 or in the period December 18 2022 to January 4 2023 is 2.73 million vehicles. This represents an increase of 8.4% from the volume of normal traffic, and it comes with a predicted peak of homecoming flow that will be divided into two days,

"All whilst, the predicted number of vehicles entering the Jabotabek area in the same period is as many as 2.71 million vehicles, which is up 9% from the normal traffic volume," explained Atika. "Predictions for the peak return flow have been divided into two days, namely Sunday, December 25 2022, for the Christmas period, and Sunday, January 1, 2023, for the New Year period."

The figure that has been predicted is the total number of vehicles that pass through the four main toll gates (GT), including the GT Cikampek Utama and GT Kalihurip Utama (heading in the direction of Trans Java and Bandung), the GT Ciawi (heading in the direction of Puncak), and the GT Cikupa (towards Merak). With a distribution rate of 47%, the East/Trans Java received the lion's share of the traffic volume distribution that occurred in and around the Jabotabek area during this time period. It was actually the truth for traffic coming into and leaving the area.

Atika added that Jasa Marga, as a Toll Road Business Entity that plays a role in the land transportation infrastructure sector, has prepared a number of different efforts and strategies in preparation for the 2022 Christmas Holiday Service Operation and the 2023 New Year.

"In an attempt to anticipate for an increase in traffic volume during the Nataru period 2022/2023, Jasa Marga, in cooperation with the Police and the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, is working to maximize the capacity of toll roads through the implementation of traffic engineering strategies such as contraflow, with a particular focus on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, whose construction is scheduled to begin in 2022. Aside from that, we will also be able to enable the addition of one lane on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, both in the Cikampek and Jakarta directions (from three lanes to four lanes) from Km 50 to Km 67 for a total of 16.3 kilometers, and we will prepare for the functional operation of the Toll Road South Jakarta-Cikampek II (Sadang to Kutanegara) along 8.5 kilometers,"he added.

When there is congestion at the Dawuan Interchange, which is the meeting point of traffic flows from the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and the Cipularang Toll Road, the functional Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road is an alternative for small class 1 non-bus vehicles on reverse flow. The interchange connects the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and the Cipularang Toll Road. However, the community needs to be aware of this route in advance because it will exit onto the Karawang national road and then continue to re-enter the toll road through the West Karawang Km 47 Toll Gate (GT).

Jasa Marga is indeed prepared to support the regulation of operational time for freight vehicles based on the Joint Decree of the Director General of Land Transportation, Head of Land Transportation and the Director General of Highways which is set on December 13, 2022. This regulation will be applied to 17 Jasa Marga Group toll roads, including JORR, Sedyatmo, Jagorawi, Jakarta-Cikampek, Cipularang, Padaleunyi, Palikanci, Batang The following are the time constraints imposed by the setting:

During this time, Jasa Marga prepared temporary substations at Km 149 Gedebage Padaleunyi Toll Road, Km 99 Darang and Cipularang Toll Roads, and added operating substations at Karangantar GT and Madiun GT in order to maximize capacity at toll gates. Additionally, Jasa Marga added operating substations at Karangantar GT and Madiun GT. In the meantime, Jasa Marga has improved the Oblique Approach Booth (OAB) substation at other toll gates and installed a mobile reader in order to organize the distribution of vehicles at the main toll gate and entry access.

There are a number of other services that are developing technology to provide digital services to users of roads. One of these is the Travoy application, which has a new push notification feature that can provide its users with information regarding traffic events automatically. Additionally, Jasa Marga continues to make efforts to expedite the handling of disturbances on toll roads, preservation services to anticipate locations prone to inundation and landslides, public communication and media management to improve the efficiency with which information is conveyed to road users, and other similar endeavors.
Through its subsidiary, PT Jasamarga Related Business, Jasa Marga will also add portable toilets, coordinate with Pertamina to ensure fuel sufficiency, add Pertashop and motorbike fuel services, provide health service posts in coordination with the local area, and coordinate with the Police to implement opening and closing rest areas if there is a rest congested area. All of these improvements will be made.
