IKON Office Solutions (NYSE:IKN), the world's largest independent channel for document management systems and services, today announced that American Reprographics has installed two Canon imagePRESS C7000VP digital color presses, making them the first two installations of the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP in the southeastern United States.

Based in Winter Park, Florida, American Reprographics has been serving the construction blueprint and architectural printing market for more than 30 years. ?My father founded American Reprographics, and we have been an IKON customer utilizing Canon equipment since the mid-1980s. In fact, we purchased the very first Canon color copier on the market,? explains Troy Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer, American Reprographics.

In serving their clients, American Reprographics mainly utilizes small and large format color printing, as well as offset printing, which is why the release of the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP was so appealing to Smith. ?IKON arranged a demonstration of the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP for us a couple of months ago, and we were very impressed by its flexibility, lightening quick speed and outstanding image quality. We were convinced it was right for our needs, and we placed our order for two units.?

Designed for the production environment customers who want a more flexible and cost-effective digital color solution that is on par with offset color printing image quality and performance, the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP features industry-leading color imaging technology and produces images that are consistently printed at a 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution. In addition, it features Canon's innovative dual-fusing technology, which allows the system to maintain a constant engine speed of 70 letter-sized pages per minute, regardless of the paperweight, and maintains a 10,000-sheet maximum paper input.

Smith expects his two Canon imagePRESS C7000VPs to completely change his business. ?Many of our customers' projects require offset printing and are very time sensitive, requiring immediate turnaround. In the past, we would have to send these jobs out, now we can keep them in-house using the digital press capabilities of the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP. It handles coated and heavier stock projects easily, and projects with assigned Pantone colors are reproduced perfectly,? he stated.

The Canon imagePRESS C7000VPs have made an immediate positive impact on American Reprographics. ?The first job we ran would have taken us three hours to complete on our old equipment,? explains Smith. ?On the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP, it was finished perfectly in 15 minutes. The month before the installation, we ran about 100,000 images, which was our maximum capacity. With our two Canon imagePRESS C7000VPs, I fully expect us to run 250,000 images a month in three months and 500,000 a month a year from now.?

American Reprographics' relationship with IKON was also key in Smith's decision-making process. ?We have enjoyed a strong, positive relationship with IKON for more than 20 years, and we've made significant purchases with them in the past, like our two IKON PrintCenterPro 1050s, and Canon imageRUNNER VP 125 and 110,? says Smith. ?From our pre-purchase research, through the order, delivery and installation process, our IKON representative was with us every step of the way. Everything that IKON promised us was delivered, and with our comprehensive maintenance plan and IKON's expert service technicians, I am very comfortable moving forward with our two Canon imagePRESS C7000VPs.?

IKON has many years of experience in meeting and exceeding the demands of commercial print shops and corporate print centers. The addition of the Canon imagePRESS C7000VP furthers IKON's position as a leading industry expert in production technology and color imaging. ?Our extensive experience in production environments helps us create solutions for commercial print customers like American Reprographics that lead to increased capacity, faster turnaround times, and print quality that utilizes state of the art technology,? says Brian Edwards, Senior Vice President, U.S. Sales and Services, IKON Office Solutions. ?Through our experience in digital printing, we can also help commercial printers expand their digital printing business and assist them in using technology and advanced solutions to develop and grow their business and offerings, leading to increased profitability.?
