The launching ceremony was attended by Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, and Andrey Ryumin, Director General of PJSC Rosseti. The new 110 kV Power Center is named after Heinrich Graftio, an outstanding power engineer and one of the authors of the GOELRO plan.

The cost of the work amounted to 1.1 billion rubles. The service area of Rosseti Lenenergo's substation includes multi-storey buildings with more than 13,000 inhabitants, social facilities, a new stage of the Maly Drama Theater. A power reserve has been provided for the further development of the territory.

All production processes are fully automated; the constant presence of personnel on the site is not required. Information about any failures online goes to the dispatcher's console. For additional protection, the software and hardware that are part of the automated control system have built-in self-diagnostic functions.

The power equipment with a capacity of 80 MVA is located in closed rooms, which allows ensuring fire safety, reducing the noise level and the risks of technological disturbances due to the impact of the natural environment. A 110 kV gas-insulated complete switchgear has been used, which is the most effective solution in conditions of dense urban development.

"The substation is a good New Year's gift for our city. It was introduced according to the program developed jointly with Rosseti and Rosseti Lenenergo. Its launch will improve the power supply of social and residential buildings in the Central District. The substation will be used as a backup one for the operation of three metro stations - Pushkinskaya, Spasskaya and Obvodny Canal", said Alexander Beglov.

"Year over year, due to the efforts of Rosseti Lenenergo, more and more modern energy facilities appear on the map of St. Petersburg. This is an important factor for the successful development of our city. St. Petersburg, like any modern metropolis, needs a developed energy infrastructure. Modern technologies used in the energy sector are a definite plus for all consumers, whether be residents, industrial or social sphere. Automation is safety and quick response to emergencies, when almost at the touch of a button, you can eliminate problems, restore the power supply. The ability to automatically transfer readings for consumed electricity is also automation, like other services that make the life of our citizens much more comfortable", he added.

"The Graftio Substation is the most modern facility in its class in St. Petersburg in terms of the combination of applied solutions. The city is developing dynamically, and the systematic work carried out by Rosseti Group to modernize the network infrastructure will meet the needs of the population and business for affordable and high-quality power supply. At the end of 2021, 5 new and reconstructed facilities will be put into operation in the city. Next year, work on 10 more projects will be completed, and the volume of investments will amount to more than 29.5 billion rubles", noted Andrey Ryumin.
