Special Holiday DUI Traffic Enforcement Efforts

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over; If You Feel Different, You Drive Different, Drive High - Get a DUI

December 20, 2023 (Anchorage, Alaska) - The holidays are filled with cheers and celebrations. If you plan to include libations in your holiday festivities, remember to be responsible. Alaska State Troopers are conducting increased traffic enforcement to help keep Alaskans safe and catch impaired drivers. Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers across Alaska are conducting focused patrols for impaired drivers.

These increased patrols run from December 18, 2023 - January 1, 2024. During this time, additional troopers are patrolling highways and roads around the state, looking for impaired and unsafe drivers. If your holiday plans involve alcohol, marijuana, or any other impairing substances remember to call a cab or rideshare, have a designated driver, or stay the night.

"Don't gamble with your life or the lives of others this holiday season by driving drunk or high; the odds will never work out in your favor," said Colonel Mo Hughes, Director of the Division of Alaska State Troopers. "If you choose to get behind the wheel while impaired, remember, our troopers on the road are committed to finding and arresting every drunk driver."

Funding for increased patrol efforts comes from grants distributed by the Alaska Highway Safety Office.

Motorists who see someone driving dangerously are encouraged to call in a REDDI - Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately - by calling 911. To learn more about REDDI, visit http://www.dot.alaska.gov/stwdplng/hwysafety/REDDI.shtml
