SACYR PROYECTA IS AWARDED THE EPCM CONTRACT FOR
AN ALUMINUM RECYCLING PLANT IN TORIJA
(GUADALAJARA)
Hydro invests €180 million in a new state-of-the-art aluminum recycling plant that will help decarbonize European industries through processes that ensure low carbon emissions.
Madrid, March 12, 2024.- Hydro has chosen Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure, through its subsidiary Sacyr Proyecta, to execute the EPCM (Engineering, Procurement
Construction Management) contract for a new aluminum recycling plant in Torija (Guadalajara).
The new facility will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes of recycled aluminum and will be capable of treating up to 70,000 tonnes of post-consumerscrap per year, enabling the supply of low-emission recycled products to key European sectors such as transport, automotive, building, construction, renewable energy installations and consumer durables markets. Production is expected to begin in 2026.
With the construction of this state-of-the-art aluminum recycling plant, Hydro, together with its suppliers, are contributing to the decarbonization of the industry, generating low-carbon aluminum, which is essential for achieving the European green transition. The project requires an investment of €180 million.
