The Russian Institute of Directors (RID) evaluated Sberbank's corporate governance practices in accordance with the new methodology of the National Corporate Governance Rating (NCGR), resulting in the bank's rating being raised from 8+ to 8++ ("Best corporate governance practices"). Sberbank is the first Russian company with an NCGR to receive an 8++ rating for the improvement and implementation of best corporate governance practices.

In 2021, new criteria related to sustainable development management and ESG were included in the NCGR methodology. During the assessment, the experts noted the bank's achievements in the formation of an integrated ESG and sustainable development governance system.

The bank's corporate governance practices were also assessed in terms of shareholder rights, governance and control bodies, and financial and non-financial disclosure.

The results of the assessment confirmed Sberbank's leadership in the implementation of best corporate governance practices and its active position in the development of the ESG agenda.

According to the National Corporate Governance Rating scale, companies with an NCGR of 8++ adhere to a substantial number of Russian Corporate Governance Code and sustainability standard recommendations. Stakeholder risks related to the quality of corporate governance and sustainability management are negligible.
