Servelec HSC is pleased to announce that our Oceano patient administration system (PAS) solution, developed in partnership with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, has won an award at the Trust's annual event which celebrates outstanding work undertaken by employees and volunteers.

Oceano PAS won the 'Outstanding Achievement' Award and was shortlisted in the top three for the 'Innovation' award category. University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, launched the Oceano system in July 2017. Oceano is the culmination of a four-year project to develop a patient administration system specifically to meet the needs of one of the UK's highest performing acute trusts.

Over one million patient records were transferred to the new system which is used by around 1,500 staff across the Trust, many of whom were involved in designing and testing the software. For patients, the implementation of Oceano will mean improved communications about their hospital appointments and flexible options linked to how they receive information.

Alan Stubbs, Chief Executive Officer of Servelec HSC commented; 'Congratulations to the team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and also our teams at Servelec who were involved in the Oceano collaboration over the last few years - this is a great testament to team work and innovation in the NHS.'
