Recognized by S&P Global in the Sustainability Rating Selected as Gold Class for the fourth consecutive year

Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Toshiro Mitsuyoshi;

Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter Sumitomo Forestry) announced it has been selected for the Gold Class distinction by the world leading assessor of socially responsible investments (SRI), S&P Global in the sustainability rating for the fourth consecutive year.

S&P Global assessed the economic, environmental and social activities of more than 7,000 leading companies in the world. It selects the top 15% of companies in 61 industries for their excellence in sustainability, and publishes them in The Sustainability Yearbook 2022. Those companies whose performance is particularly excellent receive "Gold Class," "Silver Class," or "Bronze Class" distinctions.

Sumitomo Forestry has been continuously selected for 15 consecutive years since 2008 for excellence in sustainability performance in the Homebuilding Industry category and rated as Gold Class for the seventh time. This time, 83 Japanese companies were selected for their excellence in sustainability performance, and of those, four including Sumitomo Forestry received Gold Class distinctions. The company has also been selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index, which are global ESG investment indices evaluated based on the scores of S&P Global.

In the Sumitomo Forestry Group 2021 Medium-Term Management Plan, announced in 2019, the Group formulated Mid-Term Sustainability Targets that incorporated its sustainability strategies and material issues to enhance the link between business and sustainability strategies. The next medium-term management plan that is expected to be announced this month will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and promote further integration of business operations and ESG initiatives.
