SAN JOSE, Calif., April 10, 2011 - U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and California Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. will join SunPower Corp. and partner Flextronics to dedicate its new solar panel manufacturing plant in Milpitas, Calif. on Tuesday, April 12. Also during the event, Governor Brown will sign into law the recently passed legislation requiring that 33 percent of the state's electricity come from renewable power by the end of 2020.

The event marks SunPower's continued U.S. growth and investment, and bringing manufacturing back to California. In partnership with Flextronics, 75 megawatts per year of the world's highest efficiency solar panels will be manufactured at the new factory, creating 100 jobs. The Silicon Valley location will allow SunPower to quickly and cost-effectively supply panels to solar installations at homes, businesses, schools and power plants throughout the rapidly growing U.S. solar market.
