Sustainability Statement

About This Statement

First initiated in 2017, this Sustainability Statement 2022 (SS2022) marks

the sixth edition of our sustainability reporting journey and it covers activities undertaken by the Group in 2022.

"DEVELOPMENT THAT MEETS THE NEEDS OF THE PRESENT WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE ABILITY OF FUTURE GENERATIONS TO MEET THEIR OWN NEEDS"

The findings in SS2022 focuses on the current state of reporting the gaps that should be filled to meet regulatory requirements and the overarching business strategy considerations that can allow companies to meet increasing regulatory expectations while still creating impact and generating value.

As a responsible corporate citizen, these activities reflect the Group's continuous commitment towards the country's economic growth and, in particular, the economy of Sabah while contributing to the environmental progress and the well- being of the community.

The attention to sustainability has been an integral component of our overall operations. Through this statement, we seek to provide a comprehensive account of our sustainability programmes, the activities we undertook in 2022, and the challenges we faced post Covid-19 pandemic in our business operations and surrounding communities.

ANNUAL REPORT 2022

SURIA CAPITAL HOLDINGS BERHAD

Sustainability Statement

Our sustainability initiatives are driven by the Suria Board of Directors (the Board), Risk Management & Governance Committee (RMGC), Sustainability Steering Committee and supported by the Sustainability Working Group (SWG).

The Board is performing its responsibility towards sustainable practices by giving the mandate to the RMGC and Sustainability Steering Committee to oversee the execution of our sustainability commitment. The Board is also responsible to approve any necessary principles, policies and strategies.

The Sustainability Steering Committee, which is represented by EXCOM headed by the Group Managing Director, is responsible for setting the direction, governance and overseeing the implementation of sustainability strategies and performance.

The Group Corporate Affairs and Communication Department (GCAC) acts as the Sustainability Project Management Office or as the Secretariat, which is tasked to submit compiled progress reports to RMGC on a quarterly basis for update and deliberation.

The SWG comprises representatives from the holding company and operating subsidiaries. It was established to monitor the implementation of the strategies and action plans related to the sustainability aspects of SuriaGroup. The SWG reports the progress of the action plans which will then be compiled by the Secretariat to be tabled at the RMGC. The SWG is grouped into four (4) teams where each team is responsible for each pillar; namely, Economic, Environment, Social-People and Social-Stakeholders and Community Engagement.

Our Sustainability Approach

Our reporting approach focuses on material issues and activities in line with stakeholders' concerns and relevance in context, completeness and balance.

We identified the material issues through stakeholders' engagements and materiality assessments.

The Sustainability Statement of the Group has been an annual reporting for the last six (6) years since the first issue of Sustainability Statement 2017. As such, the current issue of Sustainability Statement 2022 captures the 6-year trend and development of sustainability initiatives undertaken by the Group. By looking at the trend or development, it would reflect how sustainability could

be successfully incorporated into the corporate culture of the Group. This could determine the future course of actions and directions to achieve the targets or goals for sustainable growth.

The Group has also started looking into enhancing its climate-related disclosure transparency by aligning with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Continuous Stakeholders' Engagements

SuriaGroup regularly engages with its various stakeholders to understand and meet their expectations. This proactive engagement is executed in a way that supports both their short and long-term business goals.

These engagements with stakeholders play a vital role in our sustainability journey. Aside from continuing to form, strengthen and maintain valuable relations with stakeholders through various engagement channels, some of the Group's methods in creating value for its businesses and stakeholders include strengthening ties by utilising online platforms or customer portals.

The Group puts emphasis on its commitment towards digitalisation and this has increased the Group's resilience and responsiveness in engaging with stakeholders, while adhering to the principle guidelines of sustainability reporting.
