Cost Consultant Kate Kirgizova, has been officially appointed as Vice Chair of RICS Matrics for the Edinburgh and South East region.

RICS Matrics looks after the interests of members who are new or recent entrants to the surveying profession. The group is youthful, forward-thinking, challenging and nurturing, and enables its members to grow and feel like an integral part of the wider RICS.

In her new role, Kate will be actively involved in promoting the profession and inspiring the next generation through liaison with universities, schools and colleges; the development of the APC support and study groups; and the introduction of new initiatives and development programmes for young professionals. She will also assist with CPD talks and workshops as well as social and networking events.

Since joining Sweett Group's Edinburgh office in 2012, Kate has gained experience across a range of sectors and worked on a variety of projects including: a range of complex new build and major refurbishment projects for the University of Edinburgh; a number of new nurseries across Edinburgh for the City of Edinburgh Council; various office projects, including the creation of new, innovative office space for Network Rail; and a major refurbishment of Linlithgow Partnership Centre for West Lothian Council.

Speaking on her new appointment, Kate commented:

'I'm very pleased to be appointed as Vice Chair of RICS Matrics for our region. I see this as a real opportunity to help to develop some excellent initiatives and work to support those entering our profession'
