Today, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P) (NYSE: GAP) announced that Carter Knox will assume the role of Senior Vice President, Human Resources & Communications.

Carter has an extensive background in Human Resources and Communications with over 30 years in various management positions within retail sales management and merchandising. Prior to joining A&P, he was the Senior Vice President, Human Resources for OfficeMax. He has extensive experience in human resources and associate communications, including roles of increasing responsibility with Fred Meyer, a major division of the Kroger Co. Carter has been a trusted Human Resources and Communications professional with a superior ability to develop and implement learning solutions that are linked to successful business outcomes. He holds a B.A. from Marylhurst University in Communications.

In this role, Carter will be leading the Human Resources, Field and Corporate, Labor Relations, as well as the Company's Public Relations & Communications departments.
