Tassie Tiger's Back! Tiger Airways Touches Down in Tasmania Today & Celebrates Return of Services to Hobart! Thousands of Fares on Sale Today Between Melbourne and Hobart from $45.95* (Note to editors: Flights to and from Hobart - subject to regulatory approval)

Media Release embargoed until 10:30am (AEST) Friday 20th April 2012: A Tiger Airways Australia party led by CEO Andrew David will touch down at around 10am (AEST) in Hobart Airport today to announce the return of the airline's services between Melbourne and Hobart as of 1 November 2012.
Joining Andrew on board the private Tiger flight (TT8162) will be Tourism Tasmania's CEO Tony Mayell and an 80 strong contingent of Tiger Airways employees and support team who are also jetting in to celebrate Tiger's return.
The party will be met at Hobart Airport by Minister for Tourism Scott Bacon, Hobart Airport's CEO Rod Parry, the Tasmanian Tigers Hockey Team and the Tasmanian devil mascot.
On disembarkation in Hobart, the group will travel to the capital's iconic harbour and enjoy a "Taste of
Tasmania" luncheon at the renowned Museum of Old and New Art (MONA).
Tiger Airways Australia CEO Andrew David says Tiger is thrilled to return to Tasmania. From 1st November this year, the airline will fly two daily regular return flights between Melbourne and Hobart and an additional
third daily return flight during the busiest part of the year.
"With two daily return services between Melbourne and Hobart, Tiger Airways will provide over 5,000 visitor seats through Hobart Airport every week (and over 7,500 visitor seats weekly with three daily return services operating in peak season)," said Mr. David.
"Tiger Airways is continuing with its Australian expansion as planned and Tasmania is an important milestone on this journey," said Mr. David.
Mr. David added that great value airfares along with Tiger's ongoing operational excellence and leading on time performance** will make for a compelling product that will be available in time for the peak summer season holidays.
"As a volume business we will always be able to offer competitive fares on routes where there is sufficient demand," said Mr. David. "Because the Melbourne to Hobart route has proven so popular with inbound and Tasmanian customers in the past we are confident that demand for this sector in the future will be strong."

Today's news also means additional jobs will be created at Hobart Airport for Tiger's ground handling partner, Aerocare, ahead of services commencing in November.
Minister for Tourism, Scott Bacon said Tiger's commitment to more flights between Melbourne and Hobart every week is fantastic news for Tasmanians as well as interstate and international visitors.
"Not only does it provide more choices for everyone, but it also brings more competition for access between
Tasmania and the mainland.
"Sufficient and reliable access to our island state isn't just important for tourism, it's a fundamental requirement for our economy and our community.
"Tourism Tasmania will continue to work closely with Tiger on cooperative marketing activities and other in- kind support to help ensure their new Tasmanian service gets off to a flying start in November."
Hobart Airport CEO Rod Parry also echoed this sentiment.
"We are delighted to welcome Tiger back to Hobart and look forward to the new services they will deliver to
Tasmania," said Mr. Parry.
"Tiger's return to Tasmania will also help further stimulate the broader domestic travel market as even more
Australians are given the opportunity to travel by air more often," said Mr. David.
Mr. David will also use today's announcement to reiterate that the airline intends to unveil further network expansion plans in due course.
"There are many other destinations around Australia which are also keen for Tiger's return or commencement of services," concluded Mr. David. "We continue to talk to tourism and airport partners around the country and will be making further announcements in due course."
