Truist Financial Corp. on Wednesday said it named Michael Maguire chief financial officer, effective Sept. 15.

Mr. Maguire, who currently serves as the Charlotte, N.C., financial-services company's chief consumer finance and payments officer, succeeds Daryl Bible, who in May announced plans to retire.

Truist said Mr. Bible, who had been chief financial officer since the merger of SunTrust Banks Inc. and BB&T Corp. in late 2019 to form Truist after serving as BB&T's finance chief since 2009, will remain for a transition period.

Mr. Maguire, 44 years old, has been in his current post since late 2019 and previously spent more than 15 years with SunTrust.
