April 2, 2024 - Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness nature's incredible spectacle. Ski resorts in the path of totality, where a full eclipse can be viewed, are creating welcoming spaces that offer fun, memories, and some of the best viewing locations in the country. The next opportunity to experience a total solar eclipse over the United States will be in 2044 (in North Dakota and Montana) and 2045 (as it crosses California to Florida).

The solar eclipse is Monday, April 8. All these events are open to the public, and those taking place on snow with lift access required can use their 23/24 Epic Pass or purchase a ride-only ticket. Reminder that the 24/25 Epic Pass is on sale at the lowest price of the season, including the Epic Local Pass at $731, including 10 Buddy Passes with a purchase by April 14.

Stowe Mountain Resort: Stowe, Vermont Stowe Mountain Resort is welcoming guests to Vermont's highest mountain peak for the total solar eclipse. There are multiple opportunities for guests to experience this once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon:

  • Located at the summit, the Cliff House Eclipse Party is a ticketed event limited to 100 guests and includes a special menu of culinary delights, live music, commemorative swag, private access to the Cliff House deck, and more.
  • The Mansfield Gondola will operate from 12:30-5:00 p.m. on April 8 for 23/24 Epic Pass Holders, event ticket holders, and those with a Gondola SkyRide-only ticket - available for those non-skiers/riders. The gondola will run through the duration of the eclipse.
  • The Octagon Café, located at the top of the FourRunner Quad lift, is open to the public and has a deck perfect for viewing.

Wildcat: Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire

Wildcat is gearing up for a mind-blowing 99.4% totality during the Total Solar Eclipse. Enjoy a costume contest, eclipse-themed crafts, and a pop-up BBQ and Bar that is bound to eclipse all your expectations.

Guest will have a once-in-a-lifetime skiing and riding experience from 4,062' with breathtaking views of Mount Washington. Lift operations will pause at 3:00 p.m. during the peak totality and resume after. The Wildcat Express will spin until 5:00 p.m.

Estimated time of the Eclipse and Totality: 3:30 p.m., EDT, and it will last an estimated 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

Boston Mills: Solar Eclipse Viewing Party, Peninsula, Ohio (Close to Cleveland)

Rain or shine, the resort offers a great place to park, a perfect place to grab a drink, and, of course, the perfect place to view. It is recommended that guests bring lawn chairs or blankets for general seating in the base area.

Due to Boston Mills location to the gorgeous Cuyahoga Valley National Park, light pollution will be minimal, providing an incredible viewing experience.

Mad River Mountain: Solar Eclipse Viewing Party, Zanesfield, Ohio (Close to Columbus)

Since the moon travels from west to east, Mad River Mountain is the farthest west on the list above and will experience totality first. This is a fundraiser for Mad River Mountain's Ski Patrol; parking fees will serve as donations. Bonus: Patrol announced they will share funds with the Logan County United Way for Tornado Relief assistance.

Guests can enjoy multiple food trucks, parking and restrooms will be available. Solar Eclipse glasses will be available for purchase ($5) until supplies run out.

Estimated time of the Eclipse and Totality: 3:10 p.m., EDT, 3 minutes and 36 seconds, the longest of any ski resort.

Paoli Peaks Ski Resort: Solar Eclipse Bash, Paoli, Indiana

The Paoli Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Paoli Peaks Ski Resort, is hosting a two-day festival, the Solar Eclipse Bash, on April 7 and 8. The bash promises to make the most of three minutes of totality.

Guests can enjoy food trucks, craft vendors, live DJs and entertainment, bounce houses, and a beer garden! Limited tickets will be sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis until they are sold out.
