Veidekke's subsidiary Grande Entreprenor AS and Berg Eiendom Rora AS have signed a contract for the construction of a new chicken slaughterhouse for Berika at Rora in Trondelag.

The assignment is a total contract worth approximately NOK 135 million excl. VAT.

We are very happy that this is now finally becoming a reality. The project gives us significant production in both 2024 and 2025, which in turn helps secure the jobs of both our 200 employees and local partners in an otherwise demanding time for the industry. In addition, such a facility will have major positive ripple effects with many new jobs in the region, which provides the basis for growth and housing at Innherred, says general manager Morten Hynne of Grande Entreprenor.

The slaughterhouse will be approximately 6,800 m 2 over two to three levels, located in the Leinsmyra industrial area at Rora in Inderoy municipality. The facility must contain premises for the slaughter and processing of chicken, as well as for the transport of live animals and the transport of finished products. There will also be a separate administration wing in the building.

With a background in the meat industry, it is personally a bit extra fun that we get a slaughterhouse on the CV. Food production is one of the most meaningful things we can do, and it would only be missing if it weren't for a strong agricultural area that Innherred has facilities for further processing of the products that agriculture produces, concludes Hynne.

Construction work will start in the spring with planned completion in autumn 2025.
