In recent days, Viadeo's 65 million members have been treated to a pleasant surprise as they logged in to find a new home page. Offering more personalized, location-specific content and a sleek, uncluttered look, the new page is designed to increase engagement and interaction between users of the professional social network (PSN).

Personalized content

Already, 2015 has seen a number of new features appear on France's leading PSN and the Viadeo news feed is the latest part of this development:

- Contact suggestions are now based on members' professional experience and training background, making them perfectly suited to helping users expand their network

- Members are now provided with targeted articles based on their own career path, allowing them to keep up with the latest updates from their industry

- Members now receive personalized suggestions for companies to follow based on their interests

And this content will continue to develop according to member usage and behavior as we further refine user experience.

Location-specific content

Elsewhere, Viadeo now allows members to find and connect with others sharing their current location (e.g. at seminars, meetings, client appointments, business trips, or trade shows) in order to make it easier for members to organize "real-life" meetings, collaborate, or share expertise.

New design

As mentioned above, the Viadeo home page has been completely revamped. As one of the site's most important pages, allowing members to follow updates from their network and industry, these latest changes are designed to make the wealth of information easier to digest while boosting interaction between members.

Particular attention has been paid to mobile browsing in an attempt to ensure an optimal user experience on the Viadeo iOS and Android apps no matter which browser is being used.

Users impressed

Armed with this more personalized and user-friendly design, the new dashboard has already met with widespread approval. Indeed, a recent Viadeo study with 2,000 respondents found that 67% of the members questioned were happy with the new home page, and that 70% were fans of the new look.

Bilyana Huet, Viadeo's Senior Product Director, explained: "Making it easier for members to interact and access information were two of the key aims behind our work. Without getting too ahead of ourselves, if the early figures are to be believed (total interactions, new contacts made, and even "revisit" rates) we can already begin to feel that we've achieved our goals."

A new technological platform

With the launch of this new page, users are getting their first taste of the benefits of Viadeo's brand new platform. Based around Big Data and behavioral learning, the new platform is set to underpin further developments relating to personalized statistics and information sorting in the coming weeks.

Ultimately, all of these developments relate to a wider Viadeo vision developed several months ago. This vision aims to capitalize upon the Group's comprehensive knowledge of the French job market and the developments within that market in order to offer an invaluable tool to assist in boosting employability and professional visibility, as well as facilitating meetings (either between candidates and recruiters or between professionals).

Next up is an updated profile page and the Viadeo teams are already hard at work!
