COLUMBUS, OH - November 10, 2021 - Each year, autumn is an opportunity for families and friends to come together to enjoy the beginning of a new season and connect over shared experiences. Embracing their roles as a year-round community partner, Washington Prime Group town centers once again provided the backdrop for a fun and festive fall season through an engaging series of events for children, adults, and even our four-legged friends.

Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun
To provide a way for guests to celebrate Halloween in a family-friendly environment, town centers across the country hosted Boo'N Brew. The holiday event featured specialty drink tastings for adults, as well as activities for children, such as crafts, interactive inflatables, and pumpkin patches. The hayrides were a hit at Clay Terrace, while at The Mall at Fairfield Commons, the town center added their own impactful addition by donating proceeds to the Kiwanis Club of Beavercreek, and Scottsdale Quarter featured live artist mural paintings.

Mad About Plaid
This year, Washington Prime Group town centers embraced cozy fall apparel through Flannel Fest. Guests visited town centers, including Southgate Mall, Lima Mall, and The Mall at Johnson City, to celebrate all-things-fall with seasonal activities, including axe-throwing, live music, s'mores, pumpkin patches, and fire pits. At Ashland Town Center and Longview Mall, guests could be seen donning their favorite flannel at the events.

Family First
Washington Prime Group town centers immersed guests in Mexican culture through the traditional holiday, Día de los Muertos. During this annual cultural event, it's believed that the border between the spirit world and the physical world dissolves. Families celebrate their deceased loved ones by leaving the deceased's favorite foods and other offerings at gravesites or on the altars (ofrendas) built in their homes. During Día de los Muertos, guests experienced traditional elements, while honoring those who have passed before us, including onsite ofrendas, calaveras (sugar skull art), dancing, and Mexican cuisine. At Boynton Beach Mall, artist Thelma Delgado was invited to live paint during the event, resulting in the piece "La Catrina."

Sweet Celebrations
A Halloween celebration would not be complete with a sweet treat. Town centers created on-site trick-or-treating events, including Trunk-or-Treat and Candy Crawl, to offer families a fun, interactive location for kids to sport their best costumes and collect candy in a safe location. Town centers like Lima Mall and Longview Mall closed off their parking lots and welcomed children to a community-focused, candy-filled event. Southern Park Mall's Candy Crawl showcased the town center's new green space, DeBartolo Commons, while Paddock Mall's Candy Crawl incorporated a special 5K run. Additionally, Pearlridge Center added a unique contact-free drive-thru parade to make their Trunk-or-Treat extra sweet.

Happy Howl-o-ween
Town centers extended the fall fun by welcoming four-legged friends to enjoy Howl-o-ween. This animal-friendly event, held at town centers including Orange Park Mall and Lima Mall, included "yappy" hours, pop-up shops for canines, and a costume contest for pets, such as the Walk for Paws costume contest at Chautauqua Mall.

Washington Prime Group's fall events sparked excitement across the country, generating more than 400 local news and broadcast stories (according to Meltwater Media Intelligence). Fall event content garnered over 5 million digital impressions (according to Falcon) with 2.6 million emails delivered (according to Emma). From drink tastings and "yappy" hours to trick-or-treating and pumpkin patches, the seasonal line-up of fall celebrations provided a variety of ways for the community to enjoy autumn together and for families to make lasting memories.
