BRISBANE - 3 July 2013

A placenta, pet gold fish and false eye are just a few of the embarrassing items travellers left behind in Brisbane hotel rooms, according to the latest survey by leading travel website Wotif.com.

Wotif.com Product Director, Donna Rodios, said underwear was the top response for the most embarrassing item forgotten in Brisbane hotel rooms.

"While 21 per cent of respondents left behind underwear and 15 per cent admitted they left behind adult toys in Brisbane hotel rooms, there was also a mix of unusual and unforgettable responses," Ms Rodios said.

"The fridge is an easy spot to forget something, but I'm sure the last thing the hotel staff would have expected to see when they opened the door was a placenta or an iron cooling down inside.

"From all the unique embarrassing responses, a few of the standouts were a positive pregnancy test, a dribble stained pillow and baby teeth - surprisingly they all actually contacted the hotel to get them back.

Ms Rodios said there was also no shortage of interesting responses when it came to respondents revealing the most irreplaceable items they left behind.

"We had the usual responses, with 24 per cent admitting they left behind a camera with travel photos, followed by 5 per cent forgetting wedding rings and 4 per cent forgetting travel photos.

"Sometimes the most irreplaceable items aren't always the most expensive - one respondent included their wife's best tweezers, while another said they'd forgotten discontinued hair product."
