The first shipment of iron ore fines of WISCO Liberia Bong Mines set sail for going back home

At the local time 17:00 £¬ Feb. 13, the first shipment of 50,000 tons of iron ore fines from WISCO Liberia Bong Mines was loaded and officially set sail from the port back to WISCO.

At the local time 11:30 on the morning of Feb. 12, the ceremony for the first shipment of the Project of WISCO Liberia Bong Mines was held in a warm, grave and festive atmosphere in Liberia Freeport Monrovia.

Liberia President Sirleaf and China¡¯s Ambassador to Liberia Mr. Zhang Yue attended the ceremony of the first shipment of the iron ore fines. The leaders of Liberia Ministry of Lands and Minerals, Harbor Bureau and other related authorities, parliament representatives, as well as the leaders of WISCO Sino-Africa (HK) Mining Co., Ltd., the construction company, and supervising company, and all guests witnessed this exciting moment together. President Sirleaf gave high praise to the efficient production and operation of WISCO Sino-Africa (HK) Mining Co., Ltd. since its commencement of production, and expressed cordial congratulations to the success of the first shipment, and sincere appreciation to the project of Bong Mines which has promoted the development of Liberian economy.

Liberia Freeport BMC Dock is the important port for the external sales of iron ore of Bong Mines and the import of heavy oil. In order to make good construction for this engineering project, WISCO Sino-Africa (HK) Mining Co., Ltd. has invested over USD 100 million to make technical equipment revamping, successively reinforced the dock, installed new reclaimer, ship loader, converor belt and oil unloading and storage facilities, and conducted channel dredging, therefore the dock has the berthing capacity of 50,000 tons, the storage yard has the capacity of 1 million tons and the oil tank has the storage capacity of 20,000 tons.

Liberia Bong Mines is the first overseas iron ore mines with the dominant development by WISCO. Since its commencement of production at the end of last July, with the common efforts of all staff of the company, the production for the project of Liberia Bong Mines has been gradually stabilized, the output and quality has been steadily increased, and the production and operation has been on the right track, 125,000 tons of iron ore fines has been produced since the commencement.
