Boeing has announced that it is testing three dozen technologies as part of its ecoDemonstrator program, aimed at improving the operational efficiency and durability of cabin interiors, one of the most difficult parts of aircraft recycling.

The aircraft manufacturer is due to start testing this month with a 777-200ER (Extended Range).

Boeing ecoDemonstrator projects will range from airport operations (testing to reduce fuel consumption and improve safety by reducing pilot workload) to the adoption of optimized flight paths to reduce fuel consumption and ground noise.

Boeing also mentions the testing of different materials (lighter, recyclable and more durable floor coverings) with the ambition of reducing noise and cabin weight.

The Boeing ecoDemonstrator program is helping us to make tangible improvements to our products, enabling us to reduce the environmental impact of flight, enhance the in-flight experience and improve the safety of our airplanes", says Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
