ACCIONA Water has obtained two water treatment contracts in the Balearic Islands which together are worth 10.79 million euros and could potentially reach 16.25 million euros. The contracts are: upkeep, maintenance and operation of wastewater plants in zone MA-7 (in Mallorca), wastewater pumping stations and the sewer mains for Abaqua (the Balearic Islands Water and Environmental Quality Agency); and wastewater treatment and maintenance and upkeep of the sanitation facilities in zone ME-2 (in Menorca).The two contracts commence on 1 December this year and last for six years, with the possibility of a three-year extension.

ACCIONA Water's bid for the first contract represents 4.44 million euros in revenues, potentially reaching 6.67 million euros. It covers such facilities as the Llucmajor, Felanitx, Porreres, Cas Concos and Randa wastewater treatment plants. The Llucmajor plant will produce over 1.8 million cubic metres of water per year which will be used mainly to water golf courses, the remainder being returned to the Mediterranean. The other installations are expected to treat close to 1.3 million cubic metres.

The contract for wastewater treatment and asset maintenance and upkeep in zone ME-2 will provide ACCIONA with 6.39 million euros in revenues, potentially reaching 9.58 million euros. It covers the Ciudadela Sur, Ciudadela Norte, Cala Galdana, Ferrerías and Es Migjorn wastewater treatment plants, among other assets. The Ciudadela Sur wastewater plant is designed to serve a population of 87,500, equivalent to 3.5 million cubic metres per year. The other plants are expected to treat 1.1 million cubic metres.
