Nemak awarded with important business from French OEM

Monterrey, N.L. Mexico, May 20, 2014.- Nemak, a global leader in the production of complex aluminum components for the auto industry, announced today a new cylinder head contract with the Renault-Nissan group. The new program will generate lifetime revenues of more than 200 million Euros, and is related to a next generation of 4-cylinder Diesel engines which are typically built into various Renault, Dacia and Nissan vehicles.

Nemak dedicated a R&D team to develop an alloy and a production process that specifically meets the requirements of this cylinder head. "This newly developed alloy will support the significant efforts of our customer to further improve engine efficiencies and reduce emissions." stated Armando Tamez, Nemak's CEO.

The production will start in 2017 at Nemak's facility in Györ, Hungary, and RotacastTM dynamic casting process will be used for the new product. The new process will bring benefits for both Nemak and the OEM due to its impressive economic and technical advantages.

The new contract confirms the successful cooperation of Renault-Nissan and Nemak in the development and production of high-end powertrain components. Nemak already supplies engine blocks and cylinder heads to Renault-Nissan plants in Europe, North America and South America.
