TOKYO, May 11, 2018 -All Nippon Airways (ANA) today announced that in July 2018, the company will celebrate the comeback of a Boeing 737-500 out of retirement as a dedicated maintenance training jet to help assure its maintenance technicians have the best tools for training and to ensure the highest level of quality maintenance. ANA is the first Japanese airline to incorporate a non-operating fully functional jet into its training program.

Over the past 20 years, this Boeing 737-500 aircraft, nicknamed Super Dolphin, has flown all over Japan's domestic skies from Hokkaido to Ishigaki, Okinawa. With this training dedicated jet, the trainees are able to make and learn from mistakes without being afraid of jeopardizing operations. This will further enhance maintenance quality and allow for efficient training. ANA hopes that with the addition of Super Dolphin to the training facility, the trainees will feel a closer connection with the aircraft and become more familiarized with its parts and functions to a point where working on it will become second nature to them.

ANA will continue to maintain the highest levels of safety as the foundation of our business and will aim to further enhance the quality of our services to all of our customers around the world.
