LONDON (25 July 2014) - Aon, the leading global provider of risk management, insurance and reinsurance brokerage, and human resources solutions and outsourcing services (NYSE: AON), today announces the appointment of Lord Digby Jones as corporate ambassador.

Lord Jones, who served as Director General of the CBI and Minister of State for UK Trade & Investment, was knighted in 2005 for his services to business.  When he left the CBI in 2006 he spent the next 12 months in the private sector as advisor to Deloitte and Barclays Capital, held a variety of non-executive board roles, and was the unpaid UK Skills Envoy. He was made a Life Peer in June 2007 and took the title Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham.

Now, in addition to his role as an active crossbencher in the House of Lords he serves as Chairman of Triumph Motorcycles Limited, Chairman of Grove Industries, Corporate Ambassador for Jaguar Cars and JCB. He is an Advisor to Babcock International Group plc, BP plc and Harvey Nash plc and is Deputy Chairman of Unipart Expert Practices.  Lord Jones also recently took the lead role in BBC2's documentary programme 'The New Troubleshooter', helping businesses to reach their full potential.

Lord Jones's association with Aon comes at a time when the magnitude, complexity and speed at which risks materialize are increasing, particularly as we are not only addressing the traditional forms of risk, but now also some very non-traditional risks such as cyber risk, pandemic, and social media.  Aon is providing compelling and valuable risk advice as clients are thinking increasingly not only about how to manage risk but also to take advantage of it, often by expanding their businesses into emerging and untapped markets.

John Turner, Chairman, Aon Risk Solutions, UK and Americas, said "We've worked with Digby on a number of occasions and are delighted that he is joining Aon in an official capacity.  He's an inspirational character who is much admired by our colleagues and clients alike.  His experience, advice and guidance will be hugely beneficial as we support our clients in the ever-changing world of risk.  We're extremely excited about welcoming him to the Aon team."

Lord Digby Jones, said, "I am thrilled at being given this opportunity to work so extensively with Aon. I have always been impressed with how such a large, strong, multi-national, multi-faceted business can pay such personal attention to the people equation in the requirements of clients. It is people, working in teams, that make the difference in any business and it is a privilege to join the team. Exciting times!"
