ArcelorMittal Distribution Solutions' construction business unit delivered approximately 10,000m² of Hacierco 60, Hacierco 70 and Hacierco 90 decking profiles, produced at ArcelorMittal Poland's plant in Swiętochłowice, for the construction of the Mall of Egypt, outside Cairo.

In addition, construction's technical team in Poland provided technical support service to the client. Deliveries were made in close collaboration between the Distribution Solutions' construction unit in Poland and our constructions projects entity in the Netherlands. The deliveries took place in November and December 2014.

The Mall of Egypt is being built over two floors on 160,000 m² of land outside Cairo close to the Al Wahat highway. The mall includes direct bridge access off the highway into 6,500 parking spaces.

The retail and leisure project, expected to open in first quarter of 2016, will include 400 retail shops featuring a range of international fashion and lifestyle brands, an open air plaza, a ski park with a 250m slope, a 17-screen cinema, the first 4D cinema in northern Africa, a family entertainment centre and over 50 food and beverage outlets. Construction commenced in 2013 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.

The construction project is reportedly worth USD$800m and is run by UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim Group, a holding company based in Dubai that owns and operates shopping malls, retail, and leisure establishments in the Middle East and North Africa. The construction phase has created 9,000 jobs and 7,000 people will work there once the mall is open.

It has been designed according to modern sustainability requirements and strives for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. LEED is a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighbourhoods.
