ROSELAND, NJ--(Marketwired - Mar 19, 2015) - ADP®, a leading global provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, today announced that FirstGroup America, a leading transportation operator in North America, has expanded its relationship with ADP for a variety of solutions to help it manage more than 65,000 company employees across the United States.

FirstGroup America, an ADP client for more than 15 years, renewed its agreement with ADP for the following HCM solutions: HR, payroll, benefits, time and labor management, and tax compliance. The company also added ADP SmartCompliance® Wage Garnishments to its growing list of services delivered by ADP, enabling FirstGroup America to focus even more on driving business success.

Frank Gottschall, Vice President of HRIS, Benefits and Payroll at FirstGroup America, said the decision to expand the company's relationship with ADP was the right one to make.

"ADP has always delivered for us," said Gottschall. "We can trust them to ensure our operations continue to run smoothly. One of our important responsibilities as a company is to ensure we pay our people accurately and on time."

Mark Benjamin, president of Global Enterprise Solutions at ADP, said he appreciated the trust that FirstGroup America continues to place in ADP.

"FirstGroup America plays a critical role in the transportation infrastructure in major cities," said Benjamin. "At ADP, we never forget that any company begins with people. We connect with more than 50 million workers because we recognize the human side of work and its connection to business success."

Prior to FirstGroup America's renewal with ADP, the company conducted a thorough review, looking at its costs and anticipated return on investment. It also benchmarked its own costs against those of competitors.

"For instance, we decided to add ADP SmartCompliance Wage Garnishments because when we looked at our internal costs and compared them to what it would cost ADP to provide this service, it made sense to transition that to ADP," Gottschall explained. "It also lets ADP focus on a key area where it has in-depth expertise."

Gottschall said that ADP's depth in human capital management also has helped FirstGroup America when critical business issues arise.

"Recently, we established a joint venture with another company, so we had to get a new entity set up within our HR system in a very short timeframe," he recalled. "We reached out to our service team at ADP, and they stepped up to help us get that established in a very timely manner. We factor in that kind of responsiveness and expertise when we look at partners to help our business succeed."

In the end, Gottschall said FirstGroup's reliance on ADP helps to enable his HRIS team to focus on broader strategic issues that can deliver greater impact for the company, while letting ADP become a working partner in the day-to-day HR operations of FirstGroup.

"This partnership enables my HRIS team to add a greater level of customer service to locations where our employees work," said Gottschall. "We can spend more time helping employees become more efficient in serving our customers, rather than constantly focusing on transactions."

FirstGroup America is a part of FirstGroup plc, the leading transport company in the UK and North America.
