52% of U.S. citizens believe that the country's gun control laws should be stricter, according to a Pew Research study. The survey found that 34% believe the laws should be much stricter and 17% feel they should be at least a little stricter.

Meanwhile, 30% think that current gun laws are 'correct' and 18% said they should be less strict. Of this amount, 8% said they should be much less strict and 10% feel they should be somewhat less strict.

In terms of the right to own a weapon, 47% consider it a fundamental right for their freedom, 30% feel it is important but not essential, and 19% say it is not important.
