Consumer confidence gains more strength in January

The consumer confidence indicator has strengthened considerably again in January. After three consecutive rises, the indicator has thus climbed to its highest level since May 2011.

The macroeconomic outlook has improved strongly in January. So the general economic situation for the coming months was given a much brighter assessment. At the same time, fears of an increase in unemployment have dropped back sharply for the third month in a row.

As regards their personal situation, households are expecting their financial situation to improve a little. Their savings intentions remain unchanged from the previous month.
